Diaspora is an interesting word. According to Merriam Webster, the capitalized version of the word primarily refers to “the Jews living outside Palestine or modern Israel”. The secondary definition, not necessarily capitalized, refers to “people settled far from their ancestral homelands”. Overall, it refers to the movement of people away from where their hearts are, the homelands, and into places that are foreign and unknown. In this post, we will examine why.
